Extracurricular Sport

Extracurricular sport at Crompton House Sixth Form is a great way to socialise as well as keeping healthy and getting a break from your studies.

We have a well-established Sixth Form football team who regularly win local and regional matches, with other teams arranged depending on student preferences. These include netball and rugby teams as well as cricket and tennis fixtures available if students would like. Students wanting to arrange a new team can get in touch with Mr Smith.

We also know that many of our Sixth Formers play for local sports teams, for example the Oldham Eagles basketball team, swim competitively with local clubs, or are competing gymnasts. As students who have attended CHS will know, our school hall is surrounded by the team colours of our students who have played for national teams.

The Sixth Form also regularly run sports-related fundraising activities, including Staff vs Students games, activities for Sports Relief and main school 5-a-side tournaments.

“It is great still being involved in sport in 6th Form.  We have had as many games this year as I did in Year 11!  It has a great social aspect, I have met new people, especially in the year above.  We have visited opposition as far away as Halifax and Bakewell, it offers a break from study, keeps you fit and also is great thing to put on your personal statement.” Danny, Year 12
